Mexico is full of great people. It's government is one of the most corrupt in the world, so that despite having a plethora of rich natural resources, many people are dirt poor. I've enjoyed all the time I've spent there, including field trips that I took students on deep into the country. Met some of the most generous, most friendly, and most fun loving people I've ever known anywhere. Never ran into the bozo criminals who have become more prevalent in recent years. And why have they become more prevalent? The drug lords control the government, the police, much of the countryside. Why are the drug lords so powerful? U.S. drug money. If we want Mexico to become a functional country again, all we have to do is control drug traffic in this country. No market, no industry. Something for some to think about.
