He doesn't want him to run it through a metal-edged hole, he wants him to run it through a grommet. I guess this argument goes on until one of us dies. May we live long and prosper!

I just can't see why anyone would run the fuel hose through the hole in the firewall and protect the fuel hose with a rubber grommet, when there is no need to run the fuel hose through that hole in the first place .

it works perfectly fine to route the hose through that very large space right below, Then you don' t have to protect the fuel hose from any metal edge of the firewall hole.

kind of like steps on a sailboat mast : People ask why those steps are installed permanently there They're there so you can climb up the mast and untangle the sail when it gets hung up on the those steps. .

So why run a critical item like a fuel hose through a metal-edged hole when you don't have to ?
