I 'install' the grease with a putty knife. I use black 'molygraph' grease. it comes in both the little tub, and in grease gun tube variety. but there's now point in usuing a grease gun.

I put a pretty signifiant amount in too ....more than the whatever ounces they say. I have seen many dry CV joints, but never one with 'too much' grease. Don't overdo it of course ... but .......I put some in the boot, like say 2 1/2 tablespoons worth, then push grease into to joint with a putty knife, then fill the flange 'bowl' area . Some squeases out of the flange area when you tighten down the screws of course, no big deal.
