Greetings Listees,

My '85 Westy just started with what I think is a fuel injection problem but let's see what you have to say. Symptoms are after running fine for at least 30-60 minutes, it will loose power and die. It first happened while going up a steep mountain highway ( ele. 2450 ft. ). After letting it sit for a few minutes, it would barely start and be hard to rev to try for forward movement. After sitting for 30 minutes, starts and runs fine. Drove it home with no problems and tried the exact route the next day and no problems. Hard to troubleshoot such intermittent problems. I left town on business and Mom drives it 12 miles on slight hills and here we go again. Stalled 100 yards from the Legion where she is doing a merit badge, she goes about her business ( after calling me and putting me on DEFCON 5 ) comes out and it runs fine while being trailed by Boy Scouts ready to do there good deed. Checked and re-cleaned all ground connections on left engine wall. Checked Temp 2 sensor and wiring. Where to now oh wizards of Vanagons. '85, 1.9l, 4 speed stock w/ AC.

Dave Creasy
