I have seen some airplane engines that had this and double spark, all the way from plugs to battery. 2 spark plugs per cylinder and all the high voltage silicone wiring and tubing covered with steel pipes. Oh.. this was a military airplane and both pumps were running all the time I think.

I bet debugging an electrical problem or tuning the advance with both spark circuits operating would be quite challenging, because the run on different distributors, hence have separate advance settings (?).

I could imagine the mechanics face when You show him WBX engine built like this and tell him "It does not run properly and consumes way too much gas. Please fix it. I need it tomorrow."
