Wow that model is huge for a Vanagon. Espar makes a 2B L (about 6000 btu) which is much smaller and cheaper. I recently installed a 2D L (diesel) in my 85(gas)Bostig and love it. Some exhaust noise but can't hear it in the van. Can buy diesel at any station. I can make the van interior any temp I want without regard to outside. Mine uses a "Mini Controller" which varies the fan speed and combustion rate rather than cycling on and off. Nice constant heat, really low fuel and electrical consumption. After the Bostig this is best mod I have made to my van. I paid about $1000 for the heater kit. Fabricated a tank that fits behind the tail light. Gas version would be even simpler. Gas version will cost a bit more but you don't need to build a tank.
