now this is strange !
because ...a Vanagon friend of mine on Oahu, just got a 30 foot sloop !
not to mention........a couple of years ago some vanagon people had another
30 foot sloop for sale in Portland OR for cheap.
are ya psychic !?
well that is one of The Great Fascinations with Sailing ...
You have to 'do the right thing' . You can't pull over and get out.
One way or another ........you have to sail it, or motor it, or paddle it,
or anchor it or whatever to keep it operating safely.
( course people get freaked and abandon their slightly damaged sailboats all
the time these days...
then the boat shows up somewhere else fully intact, all by itself ...the
'rescue me now' modern affect. Wimps ! )
at least in a vanagon you can pull over and get out ...if you're in a safe
place.
And just think........not that long ago ( within 50 years ) people cruised
the world in sailboats, some of them with no engine even.
Never mind no GPS or water-maker, or refrigeration, etc.
as for keeping moving during major trips - I am fascinated with the notion
of stopping for a year or two to grow crops for food, rebuild the entire
boat from forest trees, and stock up on animal hides or whatever.
Those types of journeyers sure didn't have no stinkin' AAA card !
Show me your tough, your resilient, your smart and your resourceful people
........that's who I want on our planet . Peaceful ones too.
If they're smart they'll see how great vanagons are too !
and collectively ...there is not anything we can't fix or solve vanagon-wise
in this group.
very funny too - there must be at least 150 vanagons in my area, easily
possibly more.
*Not one* of those vanagon owners is on any of these vanagon groups.
That tells me, while we might think 'we' represent or reflect 'most vanagon
ownership' we are maybe say, 10 % of the vanagon owners that there are in
total, in the US & Canada., If only they knew what a powerful and
fantastic resource this is.
