Hi all. Re: swapping a WBX transmission into an air cooled. I'm sure some are just dying to know what the heck was going wrong and what fixed it. ;^) There were two major stumbling blocks. engine noise transmitted to interior under load: - removed material where clutch hose bracket was *just* touching the transmission bracket (pretty sure this was the only reason for noise) http://tinyurl.com/y4xj9ak http://tinyurl.com/y7npb8k http://tinyurl.com/y5bf87g - filed out more metal from cross bolt holes on transmission bracket http://tinyurl.com/y4tq82p to ensure lip of mount bracket http://tinyurl.com/y2uu44o mating up with frame properly. Problem solved! stiff/poor feel in linkage: - gear oil 2/3 litre low. (lost some transferring same oil two times... I think this was the real culprit) - loosened rear bushing bracket. It dropped down a little. Seemed to take "tension" off bushing. Shifter feels better, so problem solved! Transmission: - *barely* catches into 2nd from 1st. (2-3 fine) From 4-3, 3 barely catches too. But barely. Shifting "smart", no catches. - and no noise in any gear! Problem solved! Many thanks people. Thought this would be a straight ahead swap, but it wasn't. Help MUCH appreciated!
