I find it odd that country that epitomises free enterprise and
capitalism should try and solve their drug problem by trying to
reduce supply.

Does that approach work for any other commodity?

lets see.. we have a product a lot of people want, so lets try and
reduce the supply so they don't want it anymore.

Did it work in the 20's during prohibition? (Imagine the reactions of
US soldiers back from WWI and being told by their govt that they
can't have a drink, ha!)

The US has been trying reduce the availability of illegal drugs for
how long now? Is it working?

The illegal drug biz brings in to Mexico approx 50-60 billion US
dollars a year. Sure, just try and shut it down.

The US's current approach seems to be (quoting JJ Walker) just
pissin' in the wind.
