Not necessarily on Friday :). (I don't actually know what the Friday rule
is--if you are going to post a pic of your Super Beetle or something it is
definitely ok for Friday, and only for Friday. When a conversation that
started with Vanagon Content (VC) and veers off track, you are supposed to
_at least_ save it for Friday, but possibly (I don't remember the
guidelines, and might have broken them with my political post) just take it
off list.)
For the rest of the week this particular week, there has been a particularly
high rate of non-vanagon-related content, but this one has been an anomaly
in my experience. You can look back through a few weeks of archives and see
that it's normally pretty close to on-topic and very informative.
If you don't like off-topic you can delete anything with a misspelling of
Friday in the subject without reading it.
To the moderators--I apologize if I crossed the line even for Friday. I was
trying to be good by holding it in until now. Perhaps we can have the
information about the Friday rule added to http://gerry.vanagon.com/info/ ?
I think Jay's post brings up something we should consider seriously,
though--we need to keep posting discipline all the time, or we risk losing
people who come in on a bad day or a bad week (I think this week has been
the worst since I've joined with both the HIJACK divergence and the
linguistic rants). And that ought to be us list members that take care of
that, without forcing the moderators to come in so often.
