I recall removing the carpet from the front footwell/shifter area being straight forward. Remove the little plastic screw caps. I can't remember if the heater panel needs to come off. The carpet comes out as a giant pre-formed piece. Hose down and scrub with cleaner of choice and air dry.

On that note, I'd also be interested in what type of adhesive to use to re-stick carpet, particularly the pieces covering the wheel arch/seat pedestal. Something non-permanent to allow for removal later. Seems to me i've used rubber cement and/or spray adhesive in the past. Just wondering if there's something better that's widely available.
