Anthony,

Fifteen years ago, my VW dealer installed a Maval PS rack.  Lifetime warranty.  Now getting a small leak (very small drip) at on oblong-shaped cover (secured by 2 bolts) directly in line with the axis of the steering column.  I presume the dealer doesn't have a clue how to fix anymore...soooo, would you recommend I go to my aftermarket shop with old invoice in hand.  Probably the "warranty" does not cover labor...just guessing.

Wondering what other "listees" would do in this situation; probably a $1 gasket that needs refreshing will fix the problem; also, I've never changed P/S fluid in 15 years either, so maybe I screwed up in that regard, the fluid (I've read now) absorbs water and needs regular flushing or corrosion inside system results.

Advice?

Rich 85 GL w/ 182,000 miles, rack got replaced at about 90,000 miles I think

Gregory,

Check the Listvendors. IIRC, BusDepot.com has kits. Probably about $65. I can't remember. Rebuilt racks are not that pricey though. About $200-$400 depending on who you ask.
