Wordy, but last paragraph should explain things re strut bar re install. Take your time installing the lock nuts.

Hole quite ovalised? Pic of mine.

Strut arm made "clunk" sound when parallel parking and had worn through metal sleeve damaging strut bar itself.

I welded a shim + plate on/in ovaled hole.
