Some supplementary search I did in my Bosch database fiche, plus a bit of
additional googling point to a Bosch 0261200184 ECU which with a 98%
certainty points to a VW 037906023AC ECU that fit on California model Golf
III from late 91 to at least 1998, possibly 99.

That's the best I can come up with.
