Thanks Frank, I'll check this out.

I've decided to put it back together for now, as I need the van for the weekend, and I couldn't think of a way to loosen those big nuts safely with the van off the ground. So I'd have to re-assemble the brakes, bleed the system, drop the van just to loosen the nut. I can have the rear brakes apart in 5 minutes now, so I'll deal with later when I'm better prepared to also deal with rear bearings and anything else that comes up.

BTW, for anyone following my brake saga, the left wheel cylinder was VW OEM, and did have the spring inside, and was not leaking a drop after 16 years and 120k kms. I considered leaving it on, but it looked awful, and deserved to be retired. So now I can compare the lifespan of ATE with the China made unit installed last month on the other side... (I have another ATE for when the China made unit fails.)
