Oil might do that -- clean the pins of the sender and if possible make them shiny-bright with 1500-grit paper. If you have more than about 180k across the pins it will set off the low-coolant alarm after a few seconds.

If there *is* a bubble in the pressure tank it should stay there, that's the automatic purge point into the overflow tank.
