Total transformation when you cover those long sheet metal panels with almost any amount of insulating material. The "ring" stops completely and what's left is at most, a thud, like a high end vehicle usually has.

I'm "guessing" that the heat/cold exchange from ambient to interior is greatly affected as well. Especially driving in very cold climates, given that the rubber seals are in reasonably good shape.
