I agree that quality is an issue that can be hit or miss with the best
vendors on this item. I wish some manufacturerer could duplicate the quality
of the original. Fortunately, mine were easy to replace. I did both in
about 3 hrs. including doing the alignment (used the computerized rack at
work). I was disappointed that I still had creaking noises when going over
bumps. I am not passing judgement on these "German" upper control arm bushings
that I purchased from one of our list vendors until I replace a few other
bushings that are now 20 years old. When it's all new then I will look a
little more closely and if necessary use the chassis ears to locate and replace
the problem area part. A noise like this that I can not stop just drives me
nuts. My van feels so much better after replacing the upper control arm
bushings and going to new 15" wheels and a nice set of Cooper tires(Did all
this for $670.00 + my labor) . I will stop the creaking noise without
becoming obviously obsessive compulsive about it. Did I mention that my Vanagon
is my favorite vice?

I did some research on TheSamba about exactly this over the last few days.
The Febis come highly recommended, and it seems the Meyles are widely
trashed. No one has reported installations of the FEQs, so, as a "public
service", that's what I ordered today. I'll be sure and report back over the
next few months.
(Note that everyone is complaining about squeaks coming back to life from
upper bushings no matter what the brand.. seems that the replacement stuff
just isn't done as well as what the original parts were)

Does anyone have any experience with the upper control arm bushings now
sold by FebiBilstein and, from the pictures on various vendors web sites,
FEQ? How do they compare to Meyle's product. Does anyone know anything about
Vaico's upper control arm bushings?
You can reply via p-mail if you like.
Thanks,
