Brian,

First, Page 28.33 Bentley VV85: "- set crankshaft to TDC on No. 1 cylinder - insert drive shaft so that off-set slot in top of drive shaft is pointing toward tapped hole (arrow) - smaller segment points to water pump."

Second, timing a 1.9 is done with the vacuum lines hooked up and the idle stabilizer removed from the circuit. Page 28.28, 28.30 & 28.38 Bentley VV85

Third, Vacuum hose routine is on Page 24.24, 24.24a & 24.24b Bentley VV85. Advance connected to tee to throttle body (ported vacuum), reduction orifice then to charcoal cannister shut off valve. (Late version)Vacuum retard hooked to tee to fuel pressure regulator then throttle body. (Early version) Vacuum retard connects to throttle body.

You DO have a Bentley, right?
