The current versions of Mr. Heater have an oxygen sensor that shuts
the device down before the mixture changes enough to generate
significant amounts of CO.  It also shuts down if the fire goes out
or the unit tips over.  It is rated for indoor use and requires at
least nine square inches of outside ventilation.  It blows out in the
wind, and of course it poses a direct fire hazard but it has
reasonable screening in front.  Required spacing is 30" top, 24"
front, 6" back and sides.  Uses the fat Coleman gas bottles, can be
adapted to external tank but mfr specifies using only their own hose
for the purpose.
