Was the probe bendable so it could be fully inserted into the tail pipe? Some of the aftermarket tail pipes have the bend to sharp for the probe to get in there. They can use a short hose. Otherwise you may have a real bad cylinder miss at idle getting a lot of fresh air through the exhaust.

Hello,

We went to have our 1987 Syncro CA smog check done and for the first time it failed the initial test due to what they called a “dilution” problem and suggested we check the exhaust for leaks.

We had a smoke check done on the exhaust which didn’t reveal any leaks. Has anyone had any experience with this or any ideas what else might cause this “dilution” problem?
