Or *maybe* I wasn't able to go to the location where my Vanagon was garaged until last night and would not have an opportunity to put it on a charger until then. Thus, after throwing on the new alternator I could a) leave Vanagon there on the charger for a few hours, or b)drive it away happy but low on charge.
