Well I've never used aftershave on my car, but I'm curious as to what is the problem? I've found with those things that they can be very stubborn right up to the point that they pop off. I've used a fine-tipped pick to score around the groove and sprayed it lightly with PB Blaster, followed up with a combination of light tapping around with a mallet and some careful prying. You could try to get an oil filter strap wrench on there; a lateral force probably wouldn't be as effective however unless it caused some part of it to pop.

I'm trying to complete a Subie install and trying to get the governor cover off my auto trans without severe damage. Before I resort to brut force, does anyone have a used one for sale?

Cheers,

John
