I have a set of 2003 Passat wheels on my syncro. I had a machine shop bore the centers. I looked very carefully at the amount of metal removed and what was left. The structural difference is negligible and I have been very happy for 45k and lots of off pavement (though not serious offroading) driving. I would suggest looking at the wheel itself, and you will likely see that the amount of metal gone and metal remaining will result in 99.99% of the original wheel, including all the key structural strength. Passats are not light vehicles, and the wheels I have hold the bead of the 235 75 r15 BFGs perfectly. From a satisfied vanagon-passat wheel owner, -macjack |
