Scott, I know you have a lot more expertise on things mechanical and vanagon than I do. However, my '91 camper exhibited the extreme bucking that is known as "vanagon syndrome." An excellent VW mechanic here diagnosed the problem as due to the AFM, and said the vehicle was running rich because the AFM was worn. He replaced the AFM, and the problem cleared up, never to return (so far, 10K miles now). DMc
