Peter, the best advice I can offer you is to buy the best bodied van you can and do not worry too much about the mechanical end of it if the price is right. Rust is your biggest enemy, mechanical stuff can always be fixed. '86 up is your best bet in the Vanagons. Where your gonna find a good one around Toronto is the problem. Bringin one in from the US is not all that big a problem. All the Vanagons are now over the 15 year rule. Be sure to have whichever van you want to buy inspected thoroughly by a competent mechanic familiar with this vehicle. So here are a couple of suggestions. Keep in touch with me _www.frankcondelli.com_ (http://www.frankcondelli.com) , see my vehicle check list on my website, and check the following:

Subscribe to The Bug Pack, a yahoo email group for folks in and around Ontario. See the _Club international de camping-car Westfalia_ (http://www.westfalia.qc.ca/) , Quebec Club, they have a vehicles for sale listing. See the _CCVWC_ (http://www.ccvwc.ca/) , Ottawa Volkswagen Club, they have a classifieds listing. See _RvWestfalia_ (http://www.rvwestfalia.com/) , they may have a Westy for sale, but they are pricey. See Ben's Place, _www.benplace.com_ (http://www.benplace.com) Come to BusFusion, wwwBusFusion.com, there may be some Westys forsale there.
