Stupid question, but is B+ from the main battery to the back side of S3 disconnected?

Looking at 97.210 in Bentley B+ to S3 is shown as 30 near top of page. (not sure if this means a wire, or an internal buss in fuse box)

Bottom line, you only want + from the aux battery going to the "back side" of S3 (you never know what the PO may have done)

Do the interior lights get affected the same way? (dim along with radio crapping out)

Remove S3 and see if radio/ciggy etc go off. If so, disconnect main battery, test, then same for aux battery. If that stuff works with either one connected..... :)
