Phil,

Guessing you mean to say you have power/central locking. It that is the case, then all locks should engage one you use the actuator in any of the locks. That us unless there is something wrong. Sounds like you can eliminate the actuators in the front doors if they are able to actuate each other plus the slider. Focus on checking the rear hatch lock.

I have never a Vanagon equipped with powerlocks on all the other doors and not on the hatch. Anything is possible but not likely.
