Hi Phil,

The rear hatch on my 89 Wolfsburg will lock or unlock with other locks as long as the lock slot is in the vertical position. If it's in horizontal orientation, then it will remain locked, or unlocked, regardless of what the actuators are doing. I believe this is by design. I could be mistaken, or mine could be malfunctioning (totally possible), but this is what I've come to expect. I actually find this ability to sync or not sync with other locks to be quite helpful.
