My uncle's '89 has logged nearly 700k kms on Michelin LTX 1975/75R14 tires, and he still loves them. I've never tried them, but my old '82 Diesel Westy had Michelin XC LT4 (sold by Sears exclusively, IIRC), and they were a tough tire, with tread that never seemed to wear out, but not great traction.
