I cleaned up my grounds and It "SEEMS" to have at least partially solved the problem. It definitely has started successfully every time since, though still slightly labored. Better, but still not ideal. I believe it to be the starter as my next likely problem. It is a 1.9 (3/4hp) used original starter now turning a higher compression 2.0L Ford Focus engine..... So it's fair to assume that's a weak point.
