My old man was in exploration (geological). He spent a lot of time in the bush up here in Canada. Yellowknife, Slave Lake etc. He never said much about his work, but I do recall mention of a contest involving a note pad. Open it, slam it shut. Whoever "swatted" the most Horse, Black flies or ?, won. Neil.
