I agree that temp sensor 2 is suspect. My own experience is not that it failed. I cleaned the connector (all of them actually) and replaced all the ground connection lugs with new as well as cleaning the attachment point for same using a dremmel tool with wire wheel.

I haven't had a problem since and my mileage went up 50%. No lie. It was pretty bad, like 13-15 mpg. 1985 Vanagon.
