Gotcha. European to Motorola (?) type plug. Dunno how power antennas are wired; but it that is indeed a power-antenna feed then putting voltage on it will make no difference. OTOH if the adapter has an amplifier built in, then powering it would likely make your reception either better (if you're out in the puckerbrush) or maybe worse (if you're in the city). Or if it's to power an amplifier built into the antenna itself, I'd expect no difference but you might end up with twelve volts sitting on your antenna which could conceivably be awkward.

Yours, d ps -- What exactly do you mean by "static?" Crackling noises, or something else? It's generally only AM radios that are subject to "static" reception from lightning etc etc. That's one of the main features of FM, that it rejects any kind of AM signal.
