Get some decent electrical contact cleaner. If possible get Bullfrog brand.
It cleans and has anti-corrosion in the same can. Luckily I have an
electronics supply house about a mile away.

I use both the cleaner and the lubricant.
And when I said clean all the connectors, I mean clean every one that you can
find in the engine compartment. And then let the cleaner evaporate completely.
Clean every ground lug mount point you can find and then replace the ground lug
with a fresh one and a new screw. Crimping connectors is ok, but crimp
followed by solder is better. After screwing the new lug in place spray with
Bullfrog cleaner if you have it.
And it's not quite free, you'll spend 10 or 15 bucks on supplies. I got 22 mpg
the first trip after that work, but it was not representative or typical for my
mileage. The speed was 50 to 55 on back roads in SE MN, not my normal 70+ on
interstates.
