Greetings Listers,

I missed out on the original discussion;  Forgive me if I'm too late to
the party.

The Behr controls are simple.  If you have the unit I am familiar with,
there are two fans, each with a resistor pack whose terminals represent
Low, Med and High blower settings.  In the original configuration, each
fan had it's own switch.  Any three-pole switch should work in this
application.  I note here that my switches got pretty hot on High, and I
retro-fitted with relays when the contacts in one of the switches failed.

The second control is a rheostat (low-ohm) which "regulates" the
temperature by cycling the compressor.  0-ohms = Maximum cold.

Here's a link to the Behr manuals for these units which you may find
helpful.  These also include contacts at Behr.  I have had limited
success in obtaining parts from them.  The original controls may be
available.
