Subject: The TRUTH about Vanagons
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

It's Friday so if the spam police would kindly sit on their hands...

Someone recently inquired about the 85 Westy I'm "thinking" about selling. I responded early one morning before I'd had enough coffee and later in the day I reread what I'd written. I've seen and heard way too many heartbreaking stories about folks who'd bought Vanagons and were disappointed so I was trying to project what I believe to be the "THE TRUTH" about Vanagons. I'd probably clean it up a little before getting etched on my tombstone but I liked it enough to share it...ON FRIDAY.

"Please don't take this the wrong way BUT owning, driving and maintaining a Vanagon is not for everyone. They require much more regular care and attention than a modern vehicle BUT they will return the best traveling, vacation and life memories like no other vehicle could possibly provide. They're as unusual and quirky as the people who love them and everything bad you've ever heard about them is probably true. I have often advised curious folks NOT to buy one but without at least one myself, my life would not be complete."

"Oh and on the day you buy a Vanagon Westfalia (mine or anyone else's) you will have also gained an amazing and possibly insane group of new friends that will welcome you into their homes, driveways, and camp sites around the globe. Be prepared to wave to every Vanagon you pass, talk endlessly about what tires you have and what oil you prefer and show inquisitive strangers (who drive million $$ motor homes) how easily the top pops up!"

(Spam delivery complete.)
