Eh? What's wrong with that -- seems like sound economical design to me, perfectly adapted to the needs of a forward-control vehicle like the Vanagon. If the clutch system fails the brakes will still work perfectly. True, if a brake line bursts the clutch will run into problems if you don't keep the reservoir topped off (hint: tape an inverted quart bottle of brake fluid to the windshield; it will work like a water "bubbla" as they say in RI). But you weren't going to drive with a burst brake line anyway, were you?
