I have a 3 bar heavy duty roof rack system and a 21 cubic foot Yakima cargo box up there so I put the heavy duty shocks on there, now it opens and closes with ease. It took 2 people to get it to go up before I put the shocks on it with the cago box on the roof.. Now I can push it right up by my self. He offers 2 styles of shock. The light duty and a Heavy duty. I went with the heavy duty. I love them. This is a way nice kit and you dont have to drill tons of holes and you dont have to use a riv-nut. I still cant believe the kits are only $90.00 and free shipping. I wish I would have had them a long time ago.

Do you have to pull really hard to get the last bit (8" or so) of travel to close the pop-top? Mine lifts better with these (now my wife can raise the top) but it is much harder to close (now she can't close it). Wondering if this is normal or if something is binding. Don't really want to lube the joints as most lubes will end up migrating to & staining the canvas.
