Change the oil filter midway through oil changes to remove the dirt. I go much longer than 3,000 miles between oil changes in my WBX. I suspect that the synthetic is such a superior lubricant that the dirt isn't as big an issue.
I'm now approaching 100M miles on my WBX in the 7 years I've owned it, and have no idea how many miles were on the engine when I bought it (330M on the odometer). So the synthetic (Mobil One 15W-50) must be working. And that's through 5 Florida summers too.

Haven't seen enough evidence to convince me yet, and I don't choose to leave the crud in the engine by extending the changes, as advised by many is wise. Help me to understand, please.
BTW, I also realize that a few vehicle manufacturers are starting to require synthetic oil to keep a vehicle in warranty. But that's not our vehicle, which was engineered when conventional oils were generally heavier and had different additives from those in our present generation of conventional oils (which is why we go out of our way to find 20W50). Different from the synthetics, too, of course.
