FWIW, Bus Depot is getting a shipment of those water senders in in June I believe. I know I have one on backorder. Mine is functioning exactly like the persons who started this thread. If I recall correctly it happened right after I removed the tank top, so I probably bent the rod ever so slightly. This is my third one! Two used, and now a new one. They are extremely, extremely delicate, like glass! If you do get a new one, be very very careful with it!
