No, actually I mean flat, with the cylindrical pump sitting on the bottom of the tank. When I bought my van, the pump was suspended by what looked like a hose that was too short with intake an inch or two

above the bottom of the tank. In my limited knowledge of this type of pump, it looked as if the pump wouldn't be able to pump this "un- useable" water...

I will try the lead removal trick and advise the outcome.

Without looking at the unit I don't have a clue what you are referring to. +12?? ...Again, I'll have a look and advise

My sender is in fact the plastic "reed" type with the float; I didn't know there would be any other type.
