It wasn't the 16" rim that would create the fit problem by itself. The 65 AR limited the diameter of the entire rim/tire to 27", which will fit easily. It was the 225 tread width that made the hinged clamshell necessary. Also, that drops the tire down, but also moves it slightly away from the front which may be why there was no interference with anything up front.
