yeah, that's interesting ... besides 'X' may be a vanagon specific thing..

- that there are two kinds of 'on' in the ignition switch. the kind that stays on during cranking, like the ignition, and the kind that is switched off during cranking, like power supply to the headlights and load reduction relay.

pretty tricky ! - or clever/sneaky.

Is the heated rear window switched out too - I'm sure it is. but, I hate to see those left on, since the alternator is hit with a high load as soon as the engine is running ... , besides putting some back in the battery after starting ...there's that immediate high load from the heated back window in addition.

I find them left on frequently. On more evolved cars, the heated back window defaults to off each time you turn the car off, and some of them turn off after a while automatically anyway. but that would be a nice upgrade - the heated back window defaults to off when you turn the van off.
