RE: Moving to Seattle and Good Mechanic First, welcome to Seattle, my home town. Second, a great source for finding a good shop is at roadhaus.com . click on the Repair Shop Reviews section And two shops I can suggest with confidence are both on that list. First, Porbug in Lynnwood (a little less than 20 miles north of Seattle. George has been taking care of my rig for about two years now and I'm really impressed with him and his service and prices. Second would be Louis Foreign Auto in the north end in the Roosevelt district. Also on the Repair Shop Reviews list. They've done good honest work on my rig in the past. Rates a little higher. I switched to Porbug in part because he is only about six blocks from where I live. There is also The Tec Shop near Northgate. Never used them but has been recommended by a source I consider reliable. George at Porbug has been working on VWs for well over 20 years and I've seen older air cooled VWs in his shop several times. And you might also check out the NW VW Camping Society, the WetWesties. Go to wetwesties.org for info, email for the group at Yahoo Groups. Feel free to contact me directly if you have more questions when you get here. And bring an umbrella....
