Hi folks:

I have an EJ22 Subaru engine in my automatic, 89 vanagon. I am using Audiovox CSS -- 100. I have some questions about the hookup, as I've been running the unit with a tach only signal, and I'm told from Audiovox it requires a VSS and Tach signal to work properly (automatic).

There are only three wires from the speed sensor. A 12 V positive red, a black negative, and then a blue (signal wire) which presumably gets hooked up to the gray wire (VSS) from the cruise control. To my knowledge there are only two other wires from the Audiovox that are important. A purple tach wire and then a blue brake wire. I may have the blue and purple backwards here, but I know they are working okay as the audiovox does disengage when I apply the brake. I believe the problem is either with the DIP switches or I'm not getting good contact with the gray wire. The connection is not great there.

So, looking for advice on how to set the dip switches. I think the VSS wire is hooked up correctly, as there really is only one wire from the speed sensor that makes sense to hook up to.

The cruise control does work, but does not hold speed very well. I tried changing the sensitivity to high, but that just coused lurching, and bucking of the van. The pulses per minute I believe are set at 8000, and I believe that is incorrect. I think there's a 4000 and 5000, but need some help on this one. What's correct?

I tried to switch number 3 to VSS (vs tach), but that basically disabled the cruise control. Not sure if that means I am not getting a good signal or not?

Suggestions?
