Hi Steve - Congratulations on taking up some of the maintenance yourself. With vehicles 'this old', I think it really helps if you have a good idea of how to do some of the simple things as you've started to do.

I don't see a problem with your plug wire routing - having said that, I would add that I've never tie-wrapped the wires that close together. I think that coupling them that closely would maximize the possibility of any undesired inductive coupling between them. I have to confess that I've never seen the instructions that you followed though.

You are absolutely correct to work next on your fuel injection lines. The grey plastic covers are 'stock' and when I replaced my FI lines a year or so ago, I did my best to re-use those old stiff grey things. I believe their function is to serve as a heat shield for the lines. I bought my 'replacement line kit' from Van-again and it came with good instructions although there are other vendors for this package on-line as well.

Best of luck and continue to have fun.
