I've always believed if you can't be rich, the next best thing is to have rich friends, Back in the 80's I was friends with a guy who owned a 31' offshore racing boat, a Chris Craft Scorpion with twin 420hp Mercruisers. He took me out on that boat a lot, would let me drive it, and it was a blast. And even though I always offered to pay for gas (hoping he wouldn't accept, it held 175 gallons and would gulp that down in a day) he never accepted, and even usually bought me lunch. Most recently I had a friend who was into Ferrari's, probably the closest I'll ever come to a Ferrari. Unfortunately, unlike the guy with the boat, he has never offered to let me drive one of his Ferraris.He also has a 4 bay garage, heated and air conditioned, and with a lift. Both these guys worked hard to get what they have, and I certainly don't begrudge them that. Had I worked harder early on I could have had these things too, but I didn't. Now, having a teenage daughter with rich friends, a whole different story!! That right now is killing me!
