205/65-15 tires match the stock size. With stock gearing 3,800 rpm puts you close to 68 mph. Much above 4,100 to 4,200 rpm oil temps can start to climb.

that's normal cruising rpm with a manual 4 speed in a wbxr vanagon. I'm right at 3,800 rpm for normal 'about 64 mph' cruise. when I'm going more like what is probably almost 75 mph ...I'm at 4,000 to 4,100 rpm.

my tires are only slightly larger diameter than stock. I run 205-65 R 15 C Michelin Agilles .. and 4K rpm .. given the flat and weak torque curve of a wbxr engine ... that's what they need at that speed, 4K rpm.

it's a short stroke, naturally balanced opposed four engine ...not that bad for it at all. Scott www.turbovans.com
