My but the forum is loaded with misinformation today. Filing wafers to be flush with the top edge of the plug is a security no-no. By doing that, the possibility of many other keys operating your locks increases exponentially. The first way to correctly begin would be to cut a key to new key specs for your ignition (assuming you want that to be the key you work from.) I don't mean a duplicate....I mean a NEW key cut to the correct specs. Using that, wafers can be moved around to be correct. If there aren't enough correct wafers, new wafers should be installed. All springs should be removed, and all parts cleaned prior to assembly. Lubrication with Lok-Shot or other suitable synthetic lock lubrticant should follow.

We see so many locks that quit working because they were incorrectly "modified." Please don't do this. Any good locksmith can do what you are asking IF THEY HAVE THE PROPER KEYING KIT WITH SPARE WAFERS. Please so not allow even a pro to attack your locks with a file. It's simply not the correct way to do things.
